 Vicks Vaporub?

While in Phoenix for the holidays my mother in law mentioned this to me. Said she had heard it on the news. I have yet to try it myself. I did find it quite interesting though. Anyone tried it themselves? If so let me know what you thought! Just thought it interesting enough to share. ~Til next time

VICKS VAPORUB
When we had a lecture on Essential Oils, they told us
how the foot soles can absorb oils.
Their example was:
Put garlic on your feet and within 20 minutes you can 'taste' it.
Some of us have used Vicks Vaporub for years for everything
from chapped lips to sore toes and many body parts in
between. But I've never heard of this.

And don't laugh, it works 100% of the time although
the scientists at the Canada Research council
(who discovered it) aren't sure why.

To stop night time coughing in a child (or even an adult as
we found out personally), put Vicks Vaporub generously
on the bottom of the feet at bedtime, then cover with socks.
Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about 5 minutes
and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief.

Works 100% of the time and is more effective in children than
even very strong prescription cough medicines. In addition it is
extremely soothing and comforting,
and they will sleep soundly.

I heard the head of the Canada Research Council describe
these findings on the part of their scientists when they were
investigating the effectiveness and usage of prescription
cough medicines in children as compared to alternative
therapies like acupressure.

Just happened to tune in A.M. Radio and picked up this
guy talking about why cough medicines in kids often do
more harm than good due to the chemical makeup
of these strong drugs so I listened.

It was a surprise finding and found to be more effective
than prescribed medicines for children at
bedtime! In addition it was found to have a soothing
and calming effect on sick children who then went on to
sleep soundly. Polly tried it on herself when she had a
very deep constant and persistent cough a few weeks
ago and it worked 100%! She said that it felt like a warm
blanket had enveloped her, the coughing stopped in a few
minutes, and believe me, this was a deep, incredibly annoying
every few seconds, and uncontrollable type of cough!
She slept cough free for hours every night that she used it.

If you have grandchildren, pass it on.
If you end up sick, try it yourself.. you will be absolutely
amazed by the effect.

 Where does the time go?

WOW has it really been since September since I have posted? Where does the time go? I started working on Christmas gifts in August thinking that I would not get pushed for time....well I rushed all the way up to the last minute. I have five sisters and was wanting to put together the 12 days of Christmas packages for them. I wanted to only put into their packages things that I made myself. I think I ended up with well past a dozen gifts but plans changed along the way and every one of us girls were to join up in Phoenix and surprise my parents with all 6 of us girls for the holidays. I was supposed to ride out with a sister from Tennessee but was blessed to have my husband drive me out there. Along the way we picked up our son who was doing missionary work on the indian reservation in Utah. Of course there is always wrench thrown into any good plans and we broke down. Oh yeah as I was getting ready to pack, I had already arranged for someone to take care of the cat and the dog was going with us, I sat my suitcase on the bed, walked out of the room and when I came back this is what I found and just had to grab my camera~

Isnt that funny She was letting me know that I was not going to go without her! What a hoot.

Well, I will continue as I can because just five days ago I was unfortunate enough to take a spill and break two ribs. Hey atleast the doc said they were clean breaks. I do feel blessed enough that I waited until I was 45 before I broke any bones. Boy I sure hope it isnt downhill from here LOL

 My 2nd greatest parents

There are not many who can say they are as blessed as me. But when I got married I got another set of wonderful parents. They treat me as their own and there are days that is great and days that isn't such a good thing. LOL About one month ago they celebrated their 50th anniversary by going on an Alaskan Cruise. I hear they were as giddy as teenagers on the way to the airport. SWEET This coming up February my husband and I will be celebrating number 25 pretty sweet in itself. Yep I am blessed! Hope everyone is having a good Friday. ~Til next time

UPDATE-
WOW how time flies. My (parents) in-law arrived last Saturday for a weeks visit and it is half over It is becoming an annual event which we look so forward to. This year my (sis) in-law came to, a bonus. I am really looking foward to Friday and Saturday because there is a family reunion a couple hours from here and my husband and I are going childless and have nothing to do but enjoy relaxing and spending time with our family I just hope that whatever is making me sick will let go so I can have some fun. I am going to take my crafts and just enjoy myself. It was my mom-in-law who taught me to be so crafty. My sis-in-law who showed me how to hang on spiritually and my paw-in-law who can scold me when I mess up but that he still loves me anyway. Besides I think they raised a pretty good son Yep I am one pretty lucky ol' gal if you ask me. I only wish they could stay longer. Wonder if I could talk them into moving out here LOL ~Til next time

 Mamma and Dad

These are my parents...they are so cute. They married when they were 20 and I was born shortly after that They just had their 45th anniversary. I am praying they get another 20 years! Pretty cool if you ask me. It hasn't been an easy road but anything worth having is worth working for, right? It seems at this point in their lives they are probably more in love now than ever before. That really pleases me. It has been a long hard road that took a decision from both of them that in spite of everything life throws at them they are going to stay dedicated to each other and not allow anything to come in between them. That is not an easy decision for anyone to make. It seems more and more in todays world to many people get married or move in together with the attitude of "If this doesnt work it is no big deal I can just leave and try it again down the road with someone else". We have disposable marriages. Not only is this scripturally wrong~but it is wrong to do to our children. The world we live in now is not what God intended for us to give to our children. Life was so much better when families stayed together in spite of thick or thin and sickness and health. I am coming up to my 25th wedding anniversary and I am looking forward to being able to say that we have been married 45 years I can just imagine that. I am appreciative for my husband and believe me when I tell you it has been a rocky journey. The times of in sickness or in health have come and gone many a time. Oh and through thick and thin (if we are talking weight here LOL Ok seriously! If we study the scriptures and live by what they tell us we wouldn't be living in a world of chaos as we do now. If we all would strive to be like Jesus, to live our lives like Jesus and to love like Jesus dont you think this world would be a place alot like heaven? If husbands would love their wives like Christ loves the church and we could all learn to love our neighbors as ourselves boy turning on the evening news would be a whole different experience. Dont you think?
